PREFACE

WAS AMERICA ONCE THE ISLAND OF ATLANTIS?

In search of the true aspects of an old mythical story,
I discovered a strange trail of truth that reveals
a treasure perhaps more important than any known.

Some thrity years ago I lived on an 37' old sailboat anchored offshore Key Largo in the Florida Keys. My simple lifestyle provided me with plenty of free time in which to read and learn about local history. I began to write what I thought at the time was a magazine article that focused on the native Indian history of Southern Florida - particularly the Mayaimi tribe from which the city of Miami was named after.

The article began with a simple story of how the Mayaimi tribe once built large mounds near Lake Mayaimi - which is now called Lake Okeechobee, and lived throughout all of Southern Florida and the Florida Keys.

By researching data from local libraries and bookstores, I soon discovered certain archeological links between the native Indians in Florida with that of the Mayan tribes over in Central America. I also found historical information connecting the Mayaimi tribe of Southern Florida with that of the Miami tribe up in the Ohio Valley.

A series of related stories began to develop between how seafaring native Indians from Middle America were capable of influencing the Algonquin Indian culture of eastern North America and other tribes of the Atlantic seaboard. The article was taking on a book-like appearance and I never submitted it for review because it never seemed finished.

LOST BINARY ALPHABET FOUND
During one of my library visits, I uncovered a very old binary code system called Ogam (or Ogham), which was used to send alphanumerical messages over great distances by an ancient seafaring culture of the North Atlantic known as the Armoricans (or Aremoricans).

The Armorican seafaring culture is identified with the maritime inhabitants of Brittany and the British Isles - however, because Ogamic code markings have recently been discovered to exist along the shores of the New World also, I concluded that the Armoricans were a transatlantic culture once capable of regular prehistoric trade across the North Atlantic Ocean.

I then discovered that this ancient binary method of communication not only predated the Viking Age but also the Latin Alphabet - in fact, evidence exists that the five-unit vowel rule formula of this little known twenty-unit alphabet system originated from New World Indian communication techniques, and was exported long ago across the North Atlantic to the Britannic realm of Northern Europe by the Armoricans during nautical trade and migration expeditions.

The Ogamic alphanumerical code system is very unique because messages can be sent using simple smoke-signals or drum-beats. Even the fingers of the hand can used to spell words if gestured in "numerical code". I learned that a "ship's log" originated from a time when our ancient seafaring ancestors once used Ogamic code markings to keep records on a "tally stick" or "small log".

It became apparent to me that the seafaring Phoenicians of the Old World applied the numerical five-unit vowel rule of the Ogamic alphanumerical code system used by the Armoricans to the pictorial language symbols from the Mediterranean realm and therefore created the basic grahic Latin alphabet system of letters.

At this time, I began reading some Greco-Roman history, and found a strange mythical mystery written by the Greek philosopher Plato regarding an ancient maritime culture of the western Atlantic - and EUREKA, I started to believe that perhaps the New World Indian natives had somehow influenced the mysterious story of Atlantis.

ATLANTIS LEGEND
Like most other students of ancient history, I was familiar with the popular conventional theory that Plato's Atlantean sea-story was only a glorified tale about the Minoan culture of the Aegean realm and what happened to it long ago - however, after my earlier discoveries, I felt the true story needed more research.

With the help of a home computer, and over four years of extensive research, I had compiled four volumes and a lot of artwork. The first volume revealed how New World Indian natives and the Armorican seafaring tribes of Britannic Europe created the Ogamic alphanumerical code system from Mayan mathematical code formulas - while volume two looked at how the phonetic rules of the Ogamic communication system evolved into the English language version of the Latin alphabet by way of the seafaring Phoenicians and other maritime cultures.

Volume three attempted to explain new revelations regarding the Atlantean legend and the many treasures from that lost antediluvian age - while volume four explored anthropological questions as to where and why the first modern humans came into being.

CAPITAL SEAPORT OF ATLANTIS DISCOVERED?
Although not finalized, the basic concept now focused on the novel idea that somewhere near the western Gulf of Honduras in Central America lies the scattered remnants of the lost mythical seaport once known as Atlantis.

I explained how this ancient capital trade center of the New World continent was engulfed long ago by a "world-wide flood" caused by a rogue comet and the many reasons why the lost seaport has never been discovered.

The research book project also attempted to make clear the historical concepts that Atlantis was not only a lost seaport - or the New World continental island along the western Atlantic, but was a forgotten maritime kingdom that included colonies in most of Western Europe and part of the Middle East.

Primary Global Currents and Nautical Pathways

By comparing the geographic aspects of what Plato wrote with modern maps, I realized that the "lost" continent of Atlantis was "found" - and I should take the opportunity to prove this discovery to the public. In search of peer review, many letters and early samples of the book were sent to reputable "geographical" organizations and other historical institutions - however, I soon learned that the subject of Atlantis is "off limits" to conventional historians because of the apparent lack of solid evidence.

Although somewhat disappointed, I still managed to self-publish a Version 1 series of the book entitled SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS / The Treasure Adventure.

As I was attempting to publish this book series, I began to discover several other historical perspectives that was becoming more important than just the discovery of Atlantis.

TREASURE ADVENTURE
Since the book was "a treasure adventure", I concentrated on important items of lost treasure that could be linked with the subject of Atlantis. At first thought, the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Golden Fleece do not seem related to the subject of Atlantis - but they can be if the proper research is done.

I discovered that the Grail and the Ark were basically the same remarkable tool design - a design, that if realized today, could dramatically change the world as we know it - for better and for worse. The knowledge of how to create a cup-like parabolic lense that can beam thermal-dynamic energy is a powerful tool design older than we realize.

As for the Golden Fleece, that item has also been a misunderstood treasure for many centuries. This valuable device was also a lost design that once allowed humans to fly. The knowledge of how to build deltoid kites and ram-like hang-gliders is a design process older than we realize.

By comparing the translated information of what Plato documented about Atlantis with modern science, I began to realize just how important the subject could be in the study of Western History. Regarding Western History, I also began to question three major time periods within conventional ancient history.

CONVENTIONAL ANCIENT HISTORY AND ATLANTIS
I came across calendrical data that suggested the annual timelines of Biblical, Greco-Roman and Medieval histories were much smaller time periods than what I had always believed. I spent considerable effort in attempting to understand the complexities involved in developing a simplistic overview of how the story of Atlantis could fit into the conventional timeline of Western History.

After many years of research, I have gathered important historical data that has uncovered the true dates of when the Atlantean Maritime Kingdom existed -- which is absolutely no where near the conventional date believed by Atlantean historians.

In fact, I have accidentally discovered historical data about how the conventional A.D. timeline is so wrong in date values from before the Renaissance of five centuries ago that a mystery equal to the subject of Atlantis itself should be realized by all modern historians.

For example, by exploring how some important conventional Biblical dates were actually recorded and misinterpreted as solar units instead of lunar units, I have discovered much of Biblical history has a much smaller annual value than what is recorded as factual history.

Also, a second example of how I discovered conventional ancient history was incorrectly published by early historians was when I found a little known but very important symbol misunderstanding regarding early numerical figure values between the Latin letters of "C" and "G". This misunderstanding created a decimal point problem in dating annual time by early historians that resulted in several major calendrical mistakes which "inflated" the annual truth of history beyond five centuries ago.

A third example of why I believe the annual dates of conventional ancient history is incorrect is when I came across some new data that suggests the original 292 Olympiad numbered events that were used by historians to help date the Greco-Roman timeline were not quadrennial event ceremonies, but were actually annual event ceremonies. This new recalculation of the Olympiad event count challenges recorded history to one-fourth of the time span value as recorded in most every history book published since the Renaissance.

And recently, I have found new astronomical and calendrical data that suggest the thousand-year annual value of the Middle Ages is also not correct. This data - together with other new timekeeping revelations about how scholars incorrectly dated and published the events of conventional ancient history during the early Renaissance, hints that the true annual period between the last Olympiad and the Renaissance is but only a fraction of the conventional A.D. timeline value.

If modern historians would take the time to study and verify my research as to how, when, why and where the events of conventional ancient history were incorrectly "packaged" and published by certain scholars only about five centuries ago, then perhaps the real date of Atlantis' destruction could be realized.

The realization that Atlantis was once a real place - and not some imaginary republic from the mind of Plato, should change the conventional A.D. timeline and help us understand the origins of Western Civilization.

THE MARITIME HERITAGE OF OUR ATLANTEAN ANCESTORS
This research book project is primarily a historical program that tries to explain the rediscovery of ancient history and our Atlantean maritime heritage. But it is also a view into the future - a view that can help open a new era of artistic and scientific understanding.

We will very soon rediscover a lost technology that, if properly reconstructed and controlled, is capable of dramatically improving our transportation needs - and therefore our communication requirements between nations. When the government of the United States of America - the world's most successful super power, chose the name of Atlantis to represent one of its most important treasures in the field of aerospace, was it because the idea of human flight and the subject of Atlantis is somehow linked in our memories?

Regarding the field of aerospace, I predict that in the near future a type of simple aircraft design will be rediscovered and manufactured which will revolutionize how we travel and transport cargo. Perhaps if any significant item of treasure from our ancient past is to be found within this research book project that will influence our future, it could be the ram-like aircraft design that I explain in Volume 3 / Chapter 10.

SOME GOLDEN MEMORIES
Volume 4 of this research book project reveals some anthropological concepts that also suggest a kind of treasure we should know more about. Because there exist many theoretical perspectives that have been published as to where, when and why humans evolved into what we are today, it is important that we understand the truth within all theories - new and old, if we are to better ourselves.

The last Chapter of this book project attempts to explain this evolutionary process and how some of our agrarian ancestors knew more about the science of nutrition and eugenics than we realize. If our agrarian ancestors had knowledge that certain plants could absorb nutritional elements from the soil and store these elements in their fruit, and if some of these nutritional elements were rare and unique, such as gold or silver, then perhaps our ancestors learned how to grow and provide a special diet that resulted in a family of longer living healthy human beings.

With the ability to remember thoughts and ideas like no other previous primate, perhaps some of our mythical relatives from the Golden Age of Atlantis were not so mythical after all. Perhaps King Atlas - and his titanic maritime kingdom, should be included in the theoretical study of our ancestral origins. If the mythical gardens of the Hesperides were known for its legendary "Golden Apples of Youth", then perhaps the Hesperian daughters of King Atlas lived in the New World continent of Atlantis - and grew the golden fruit that gave the heavenly gods of ancient history immortal-like qualities.

So yes, I believe that America was once the island of Atlantis - the real question is do you?
