Saturday September 6. Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education. Last year at this time a visitor spied (and photographed) Transylvania County’s first-ever Lark Sparrow at this place. Will it return this year? Let’s check it out. Meet at the Pisgah Center’s parking lot at 9 a.m.

Wednesday September 10. Bonus Walk. Come see the Hospital Fields while they’re still here. Every year another brushy field is turned to soccer grass, another ditch is "cleared," yet this area remains a busy birding site, especially in fall. Meet at the Rec Center parking lot at 9 a.m.

Saturday September 13. Sugarloaf Road. A quiet walk along a quiet road near the river. Meet at the corner of Sugarloaf Rd. and Gallimore Rd. at 9 a.m.

Saturday September 20. Poplar Lane. This easy walk along the river is always a popular stopover for fall migrants and birders alike. Meet at the corner of Poplar Lane and Everett Road at 9 a.m.

Saturday September 27. Makeup Date. Meet at Kmart parking lot, near the EMS building, at 9 a.m.

Saturday October 4. Calvert Fields/Lyons Mt. Road. Much has been given over to sod farms, but much remains. We’ll see what we can find. Meet at the Sav-Mor parking lot on the Rosman Highway at 9 a.m.

Saturday October 11. Mormon Church/Brevard College area. Often a magnet for migrant sparrows, this area is always worth exploring. Meet at the Mormon Church parking lot (Neely Rd) at 9 a.m.

Saturday October 18. Wilson Road sites. Meet at the Rec Dept parking lot at 9 a.m. and we’ll set an itinerary from there.

Saturday November 8. Little River area. Meet at the corner of Poplar Lane and Everett Road at 9 a.m. and we’ll proceed from there.

Saturday November 15. Calvert sites. Meet at the Island Ford Road river access site at 9 a.m. for a survey of this area’s fields and hedgerows.

Saturday November 22. Makeup Date. Meet at Kmart parking lot, near the EMS building, at 9 a.m.
